Young boxing star dies from bike crash accidents simply days after title struggle

A young boxer has died after a horrific motorbike crash just days after going toe-to-toe in a title fight.

Andrew “Andy” Tham was caught up in a serious collision when his green Kawasaki motorcycle was involved in a crash with a red Hyundai Tucson car in Scotland. The authorities are now probing the incident as Police Scotland delve into the details of the incident.

The 28-year-old sportsman was rushed to hospital with grave injuries following the smash, which happened at around 6.50pm, last Thursday, May 30. It came less than a fortnight after his defeat to Inverness fighter George Stewart, 21, for the Celtic Featherweight title in Motherwell.

The tragic incident happened on the B8039 close to Lenziemill Road in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire. The occupants of the Hyundai were treated at Airdrie’s University Hospital Monklands for minor injuries and have since been discharged, as per The Daily Record.

Following the crash, which led to the road being shut for about four hours for a police investigation, the boxing world poured out its heart, with social media flooded with messages of support and condolences for Tham, reports the Irish Mirror.
