Brit police jet in to maintain tabs on boozy Brits overseas with excessive tech drones
Brits heading to Magaluf, Spain, to become party animals are set to be tamed this summer as UK police and drones will be keeping a beady eye on the boozy revellers.
The Spanish hotspot, a firm favourite with sun-seeking Brits for years, has long been synonymous with wild antics and youthful escapades. However, local officials have had enough of the shenanigans and are rolling out their latest arsenal in the war against the rowdy crowds.
The Guardia Civil has now flexed its muscles, showcasing the beefed-up backup that’ll spearhead Operation High Impact Zulu Bravo. This crackdown will see the usual Guardia Civil squad joined by extra muscle from the mainland’s Reserve and Security Group (GRS).

Not only will they deploy cutting-edge drones to spy on the strip, but they’re also bringing in British coppers to sort out any unruly Brits in the area of Calvia.
Back in 2015, a pair of British officers did a two-week stint with the Local Police in Magaluf and Sant Antonio, Ibiza, testing the waters, but it was a one-off, reports the Mirror.
During the announcement this week, it was also confirmed that the Spanish police are ramping up their efforts to tackle sexual assaults, with plans to work closely with local businesses in the coming weeks to ensure these incidents are handled effectively. This crackdown is just the latest indication that Spanish authorities have had enough of the unruly behaviour of Brits in the resort.

But this display of authority also unfolds amid a wave of civil unrest on the island, with recent weeks seeing hordes of locals marching through Palma’s streets protesting against what they perceive as the scourge of over-tourism.
More protests are set to rock the summer season, with demonstrators threatening to blockade the island’s airport during peak holiday times. This week saw furious locals take over beaches, rallying under the hashtag #OcupemLesNostresPlatges.
One of the protest groups, Mallorca Platja Tour, took to social media, declaring: “We urge residents to fill the beaches of Mallorca as a demonstration against overcrowding.”
