Woman charged with assault and felony injury after milkshake thrown at Farage

A woman has been charged with assault by beating and criminal damage after a milkshake was thrown at Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

Essex Police said Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25, will appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday July 2. The force said the charges relate to an incident in which a drink was thrown at a man in the area of Marine Parade East, Clacton, at around 2.10pm on Tuesday.

A 44-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker has been released and will face no further action.

The incident occurred as Mr Farage was launching his campaign to become the MP for the Essex town. The newly minted Reform UK leader had just told big crowds that he would be a “bloody nuisance” if he gets elected to Parliament.

Mr Farage had been preparing to sit the General Election out but on Monday he stunned Westminster by saying he would run to be an MP after all. It will be his eight attempt to become an MP.
