McIlroy’s spouse ‘misses divorce deadline’ after he is seen cosying as much as reporter

Rory McIlroy’s wife, Erica Stroll, is said to have decided not to challenge their divorce proceedings.

The 36-year-old was reportedly served with the papers at her Florida residence on May 13, just three days before McIlroy participated in the US PGA Championship. Erica had until Sunday, June 2 to contest the divorce, as per Florida’s standard 20-day window.

However, that deadline has now passed and, as reported by the Daily Mail, the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office confirmed she did not file a response. The court could potentially grant the Northern Irish golfer a default divorce.

In this situation, the case would proceed without Stroll having the opportunity to dispute her husband’s petition, which labelled their seven-year marriage as ‘irretrievably broken’, reports the Express.

The news comes days after McIlroy was snapped cosying up to CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis. Pictures have emerged of the pair cosying up following a flirty interview at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ontario, Canada.

Amanda, 38, is rumoured to be going through her own divorce, according to The Sun, after she was seen on camera without her wedding ring. She has been married to Bryan Renner, a football coach, since 2022.

The CBS sport presenter has worked for the channel for seven years, covering golf, and she has interviewed the Northern Irishman multiple times.

Their most recent interaction came after the Brit hit 13 under par and tied for fourth at the Canadian Open, with his Ryder Cup team-mate Bob MacIntyre winning the tournament.

However, according to US Weekly, McIlroy and Amanda are simply close friends who share a professional relationship.

McIlroy looks set to be staying on the other side of the Atlantic with the next event in the PGA Tour is the Memorial Open at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio – which takes place between June 6-9.

The Northern Irishman will then be hoping to conquer the US Open at Pinehurst between June 13-16.
