Man finds World War 2 bunker below graveyard – folks suppose it is one thing else
An urban explorer has left people amazed after sharing snaps of a World War Two bunker hidden under a graveyard.
The Reddit user, who goes by the name PumpkinAutomatic5068, shared pics of the discovery to the r/Weird subreddit. where “Huge WW2 Bunker disguised under a graveyard,” the explorer wrote.
The post garnered plenty of reaction from fellow social media users – but many made the same observation, claiming the photos looked as though they could have been taken from an animated video game. One wrote: “This looks like a screenshot from Fallout.”

Another agreed: “So this isn’t no video game ?!” To which the original poster responded: “Felt like one.”
The user, who also goes by Tattooed Traveler on YouTube, shared a video of his adventure to the site in 2022. There he could be seen exploring the inside of the bunker in Croatia, named the Fratelli Croce or the Croce Brothers.
“If you’re wondering what I’m doing walking underneath a graveyard, it’s that I am walking into an Italian-built underground World War Two fortress,” he said as the video began. Equipped with a head torch, Tattooed Traveler then began exploring the labyrinth, made up of a network of rooms along a narrow corridor.
The intrepid explorer even had a map of the underground lair and travelled between the rooms, finding what he believed may have been artefacts from nearly a century ago along the way.
Fans were quick to comment on this clip, too, with one writing: “Fascinating, thanks for sharing this. My uncle’s brothers in battle buried there. Bless you for honoring them. I’ve subscribed too, and watching your full videos. I was a history major in college so always interested.”
Another added: “Amazing find! Thanks so much for sharing, I found it the other day and it was epic!” Meanwhile a third chimed in: “Another one of your very interesting explorations. Always enjoy them!”
Others shared their own brushes with history. One wrote: “I worked in an old WW2 Nazi Barracks that had been converted. We asked about the indents in the walls in the hallways. They said it’s where they stored their guns outside the sleeping quarters.”
