Nicola Roberts in talks for return to Strictly Come Dancing

She’s currently touring the UK with her Girls Aloud bandmates for the first time since 2013.

And Nicola Roberts, 38, could keep on her dancing shoes even after the shows come to an end as Strictly bosses are reportedly keen to sign the singer up after her successful appearance on the Christmas special in 2022.

Nicola was partnered with Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice, 33, who has recently come under fire for ‘serious workplace misconduct’ claims and announced his departure last month.

And now Nicola could make her return to the dancefloor in the series later this year.

A source told The Sun: ‘Nicola is a beautiful dancer with amazing musicality. She was really impressive on the Strictly special and her waltz was beautiful. They’d love to have Nicola back and the offer is there for her.’

‘She has got a jam-packed summer with Girls Aloud but Strictly think she could be amazing if she fancied a whirl.’

MailOnline has contacted Nicola’s representatives and the BBC for comment.

During the festive competition, Nicola was beaten to the festive glitterball trophy by EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, 29.

The songstress is currently on tour with her Girls Aloud bandmates, Nadine Coyle, 38, Kimberley Walsh, 42, who also starred on Strictly, and Cheryl, 40.

They are currently on tour for the first time since 2013 and, during each show, they have been paying tribute to their late bandmate Sarah.

But if the singer is set to head for the dancefloor after the tour, she won’t be dancing with Giovanni, 33, as he announced his departure last month amid the BBC probe into serious workplace misconduct claims.

It was confirmed three women, including Amanda Abbington, had hired £700-an-hour lawyers at leading London law firm Carter Ruck to pursue claims against Giovanni and the BBC.

The BBC have launched an investigation after the dancer was accused of ‘threatening and abusive behaviour’ while working with Amanda, 52, Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh, 46, and former Love Island host Laura Whitmore, 39, on the show – something which he vehemently denies.

In the latest twist of the bitter legal battle, an unnamed male celebrity, who worked with Giovanni during his time on the show, is said to have shared his experiences with the law firm.

‘After three women came forward, a man has now joined their ranks. He personally reached out to the women at the heart of this unfolding crisis, offering them his support and full backing,’ a source told The Sun

‘He has also been in touch with Carter Ruck and told them what he knows, and shared his experiences. These experiences were, at times, very tricky.’

Giovanni launched a fightback by hiring rival law firm Schillings. His case is being handled by Joelle Rich, 39, who represented Johnny Depp in his libel trial in 2020.

A spokesman for Giovanni told the publication: ‘Schillings is engaging with BBC Studios to provide it with Giovanni’s evidence to strongly rebut the claims being made about him and confirm Giovanni is fully cooperating.

‘As with any reality TV show, when decisions are being made for entertainment reasons, the producers have a duty of care to all participants.’

Amanda left the competition mid-way through the series, citing personal reasons after weeks of rumours about a feud with Giovanni.

The Sherlock star said she was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and demanded to see footage from rehearsals.

Nicola previously spoke about her experience working with Giovanni during an appearance on The One Show.

She said: ‘Gio is a great teacher – he’s a perfectionist – as am I. The waltz is so technical and it’s so different to anything I’ve done before.

‘I don’t necessarily like the learning process because I lose concentration and Gio is very “again, again, again”, but I was grateful because when I finally got to do the waltz I was prepared.

‘And as much as during the rehearsal process I might have wanted to strangle him, I was glad that when I left the ballroom I thought I had done a good job of the waltz.’
