Fans’ passports confiscated to cease 1,600 yobs going to Euro 2024 in Germany

England yobs have had their passports confiscated ahead of Euro 2024.

The Three Lions will travel to Germany this summer as they look to conquer Europe for the first time – having come oh so close at Euro 2020. However, some fans won’t be able to make the trip to mainland Europe, with 1,600 having to hand in their passports.

Fans with banning orders have to surrender their UK passports from 4 June until the tournament ends on 14 July. “Violence, abuse, and disorder have no place in the game we love,” said Policing Minister Chris Philp.

Those who fail to comply or attempt to travel to Germany, or surrounding countries, will face a hefty fine with no limit or a prison sentence.

Police will also have additional powers “to intercept known troublemakers likely to cause further disruption” and those individuals “will face an immediate banning order hearing in court within 24 hours”.

England’s preparation for Euro 2024 took a huge hit on Friday evening as the Three Lions were stunned by Iceland at Wembley. Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson silenced Wembley when he fired the volcanic nation ahead in the 12th minute.

Gareth Southgate admitted: “We learned a lot, we know the performance wasn’t good enough… it was obviously a disjointed and disappointing performance.”
