Man United minority proprietor INEOS ‘seeking to promote sister membership Nice’

Manchester United minority owner INEOS are looking to sell sister club Nice.

As reported by The Independent, it is anticipated that both clubs will be given a one-season transition by UEFA to compete in the Europa League.

Earlier this year INEOS purchased a 27.7 per cent stake in United and they are eager to oversee significant changes at the club.

Ratcliffe is determined to restore United’s status as the dominant club in English football, although there is much work to do at Old Trafford.

There are concerns for INEOS regarding multi-club ownership rules as they own Nice and United

INEOS purchased Nice in 2019 but are now open to selling the club.

The collapse of the domestic French TV market is a major element of concern, with no broadcaster currently in place.

The complications regarding multi-club ownership have encouraged INEOS to sell Nice as they along with United will be in the Europa League next season.

Nice could be permitted to participate next season by being placed in a ‘blind trust’ but that wouldn’t be the case for future campaigns.

Last season Nice finished in fifth place in Ligue 1 as they amassed 55 points from their 34 games.
