Fears develop Mike Tyson could be pulled from Jake Paul bout regardless of new date

Mike Tyson is still required to undergo thorough medical assessments ahead of his rescheduled boxing match against Jake Paul.

The ex-heavyweight champion, also known as ‘Iron Mike’, was initially due to battle the Internet sensation next month but their skirmish has been delayed till November 15, following a health scare Tyson experienced during a plane journey.

The disputed professionally endorsed event remains scheduled at AT&T Stadium in Texas, with unchanged rules despite the setback.

He said: “As I think I’ve said before, the Department will stay informed about the health of the combatants and will obtain more information if needed to protect their health and safety.

“In addition to pre-licensing medical screening, TDLR’s ringside physicians also conduct pre-fight physicals before the event. TDLR rules state that licensure does not automatically authorise an individual to participate in an event if their health or safety could be compromised,” reports the Mirror.

The Texas Commission has vowed to permanently cancel the fight if Tyson encounters another stomach issue. The ex-undisputed heavyweight champ will be 58 in November, while Paul will only be 27, marking the biggest age difference in professional boxing history.
