Inside England’s luxurious five-star Euro lodging that has three golf programs

England’s football stars have checked into their plush Euros resort, gearing up for their most significant treat yet.

Gareth Southgate has consistently emphasised the importance of top-notch basecamp and training facilities to maximise their chances of tournament success.

They lodged in Repino, roughly 45 minutes from St Petersburg during the Russia World Cup, and sought to capture the Qatar vibe by staying next to a soukh market in Al Wakrah in 2022.

However, Golfresort Weimarer Land – approximately half an hour’s drive from Erfurt – offers a distinct sense of luxury. As the name implies, it features two 18-hole courses and another 9-hole course.

The lavish 94-room resort also boasts two full-size football pitches and high-end spa facilities where suites fetch £300-a-night.

FA staff go to great lengths to perfect every detail, and insiders suggest this could be the best tournament basecamp yet.

England boss Southgate scoped it out last winter when the training pitches were snow-covered, but the surfaces are excellent, the gym is cutting-edge, and it’s kitted out with all the latest gear, reports the Mirror.

UEFA proposed a list of potential venues for national teams, and Weimarer Land was not on it, but England beat other interested countries, including Germany, to the punch.

England players will stay here during their Euro 2024 spell

Germany used it as a training base for their recent squad gathering ahead of the Euros, but they will be stationed at the Adidas Football Centre.

Spare time and keeping the players focused rather than bored will be key, and they’ve got it sorted with two swimming pools, a fitness centre, spa, and not one but seven restaurants to choose from. The venue is going to get a right Royal makeover from its usual digs for guests forking out £300 a night.

Back in Qatar, each of the lads received a swanky presentation box complete with their own kit, number, and a nod to the legends who’ve donned it before.

Family snaps will be popping up in their rooms upon arrival

Southgate, being the gent he is, slipped in a personal note to each player and word is he’ll be dishing out those thoughtful touches again.

To make the boys feel proper at home, family snaps will be popping up in their rooms upon arrival. They’re even nicking the posh bed linen and fancy scents from their St George’s Park retreat.

It’s all miles away from the 2006 Baden Baden circus when the England squad’s WAGs turned the German town into a full-blown celeb fest.

Gareth Southgate hopes the facilities will be more lowkey

Weimarer Land is off the beaten track, and while families can drop by, they won’t be hanging around, ensuring this Euros is more low-key if Southgate has his say.

Southgate’s been chatting about it too: “‘It changes the dynamic of the hotel, especially if the kids come in, and those elements are important for the players.”

“We want to be somewhere where we can be a bit on our own. We need that contrast of relaxation and areas where we can work.”

“You want to minimise travel where you can but, within the FA, our staff are really good at picking venues that the players will enjoy and feel comfortable in.

You want to be somewhere where everything that’s going on around you, you can zone out from, but somewhere with facilities that are good for working.”
