Rishi Sunak will today invoke former Conservative premier Margaret Thatcher as he launches an election manifesto promising a wide range of tax cuts aimed at boosting his dwindling campaign.

The Prime Minister will say his party has a ‘moral’ mission to reduce taxes with a further 2p National Insurance cut and axing stamp duty expected to form part of his blueprint. Labour has accused of Mr Sunak of ‘taking people for fools’ over the proposals.

The Conservatives will become the second party to unveil its manifesto following the Liberal Democrats on Monday with the Greens and Labour set to release theirs later this week.
