Hooligans hit with report variety of banning orders to cease thugs blitzing Euros
The Metropolitan Police has secured the largest number of banning orders in history to stop thugs blitzing Euro 2024.
Its football policing unit obtained 160 last season including eight for tragedy chanting and the same number for racially aggravated public order offences. A total of 51 supporters got orders for possessing Class A drugs.
There were also 28 bans for assault and 48 for throwing missiles or flares onto the pitch. That was the largest number obtained in a single football season.

Most of the banned supporters will have to surrender their passports before the start of the tournament on Friday and will be barred from attending. The police applied for 79 of the orders in April alone.
Chief Insp Pete Dearden, who leads football policing for the Met, said: “This has been a brilliant effort to secure the banning orders and prevent serious disorder.
