Katie Piper compelled to tug out of her weekend breakfast present once more
Katie Piper has been forced to cancel her breakfast show this weekend.
The TV star, 40, had to pull out of hosting duties on The Katie Piper Breakfast Show last weekend, with Charlotte Hawkins stepping in to host at the last minute.
Katie – who sustained life-changing injuries when she was subjected to a horrific acid attack in March 2008 – had to have an ‘unexpected medical procedure’, and now it has been claimed that she will not be on screen again after suffering a ‘bad reaction’ to the eye operation.
A source told The Mirror: ‘Katie had quite a bad reaction to this operation, which has left her feeling really poorly.
‘Much as she’d love to be back on the sofa on Saturday, at the moment it’s just not realistic and she acknowledges this. She is concentrating on her recovery so that she can be back to her best as soon as possible.

Last week, Katie did not go into detail about why she had to miss the show but now an insider has revealed she will be off for another week
‘ITV have been really understanding and have said to her that she should take all the time she needs before coming back.’
Last week Loose Women panellist took to her Instagram on Saturday to share the news with her 1.1M followers that she would be absent.
Katie wrote: ‘Sadly, I’m not going to be on my breakfast show this weekend as I’ve had to have an unexpected medical procedure. All is well and I hope after some rest I’ll be back in the hot seat next weekend!’
The star had been hosting the third series of her ITV talk show, which airs every Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:25.
She has not given any more details about the procedure. However, in 2023, Katie endured several months of issues with her eye.
In December 2023, Katie revealed that she was forced to have her eye sewn shut to allow it to heal.
Katie told her fellow Loose Women panellists: ‘I had a planned procedure called a tarsorrhaphy, which is a semi-permanent closure of the eye. So, it’s an operation done in theatre and your eye is sort of fully or partially stitched up.

Katie told her fellow panellists: ‘I had a planned procedure called a tarsorrhaphy, which is a semi-permanent closure of the eye’
‘Some people might be familiar with it, you normally see it when somebody has some kind of disease of the cornea. And closing the eye gives it the optimum environment for it to heal.’
‘So, I’ve had quite a lot of problems with my eye in the last year-and-a-half. I don’t like to go on about it, because there’s always somebody worse off!’
Katie added: ‘It’s been quite painful, so it’s quite a relief for me to finally have it stitched up because it’s a lot more comfortable.’
‘It’s not permanent, it’s probably going to be like a year like this and then hopefully I can have it opened.’
