Donald Trump being re-elected would make him ‘European enemy no.1’, warns professional

Donald Trump winning the US presidency in November could have grave repercussions that will reverberate through Europe, according to a leading expert.

Despite facing a possible prison sentence over doctoring official documents about a hush money payment, the gap between him and Joe Biden is increasingly narrow and he could win come November.

But if he takes power, Trump – who was vocal of his support of Russian warlord Vladimir Putin during his previous term – could transform the status quo of European-American relations and embrace the Russian mass murderer.

Speaking to The Mirror, European Affairs expert Professor Anthony Glees explained how Trump, French leader hopeful Marine Le Pen and Dutch anti-Islam populist Geert Wilders will be a lethal trio for Europe should they all be voted in.

But out of the three, Trump is “by far the most threatening” and “European danger no 1.”. He explained: “Of the three, by far the most threatening to security and stability in Europe is Donald J Trump. He is ‘European danger no 1’ and Putin’s real friend here and if re-elected in November, the one we and our partners in Europe will most have most to fear from.

“He will definitely try to chum up to Le Pen, and work to get her elected president in 2027 and Wilders not only looks like a mini-me Trump, but will get a big boost from him. He will encourage Le Pen, Bardella, Wilders and de Schoof to make trouble in NATO, build a wall around the EU and embrace the Russian killer.”

The professor believes that a key player in curbing Trump’s geopolitcal rampage will be Keir Starmer, should he be elected to lead the UK come July 4.

He said: “That’s where we come in. If Starmer wins, he will be a prime position to challenge Trump. He will be called upon by history to use Britain’s strength of purpose and our national character as a nation that does not take kindly to be pushed around by dictators, to lead Europe in another direction. If Starmer were to rise to the challenge, it would be his chance to make his mark on the world stage.”

The rise of the “Three Musketeers” could also spell disaster for Ukraine as they will likely hand Putin a victory after years of Kyiv’s brave resistance. While Trump is the main risk, Le Pen and Geert Wilders should not be underestimated for how they could transform Europe. Last weekend, Le Pen secured a crushing victory over President Emmanuel Macron’s centrists at the European elections. Macron called a snap election, which is she wins, would see a far-right party leading the country for the first time since WWII.

Dutch politicican Geert Wilders, who Professor Glees branded a “mini Trump”, is best known for his anti-Islam stance after he referred to the Prophet Mohammed as “the devil” and called for the Quran to be banned. Yesterday, he secured the formation of a right wing government in Dutch parliament.
