‘Viennetta on stick’ sends Brits wild – however ice cream comes with tragic twist

British ice cream giant Wall’s introduced Viennetta to the world back in 1982 and it quickly became a favourite with dessert lovers globally.

Its unique design featuring layers of soft ice cream tucked between delicious, crisp chocolate has been enjoyed by sweet-toothed foodies for generations. Now, it appears the brand is giving Viennetta lovers the chance to enjoy their desired treat solo, served up as an individual portion on a stick.

A snap of the new offering led to gleeful reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with the excited individual who discovered it simply exclaiming: “WHAT?” This prompted another X user to cynically – and correctly – predict: “I can almost guarantee this is only available in countries that are not the UK. It’s like Wall’s are taunting us.”

Scores of others expressed their enthusiasm for the treat, with a playful X user quipping: “Thank you stranger on Twitter, my risk of self induced diabetes grows ever more likely.”

Another wrote: “When Kate Moss said ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’, they hadn’t yet invented VIENNETTA ON A STICK.” A fourth said: “Do they do these here? I’ve never seen them. My kids love Viennetta because my mum used to get it for them as an after school treat when she looked after them, they would lose their minds at Viennetta on a stick!”

Despite the clamour from the public, it seems Wall’s hasn’t yet launched the product in the UK. However, Aldi caught wind of the online buzz and cheekily chimed in with a tempting alternative. “Holly knows!” the German retailer exclaimed when a snap of their own Mini Viennese vanilla ice creams surfaced in the thread.

“Aldi have had them for years, including mint and strawberry flavours too,” one savvy shopper pointed out. “Aldi do mini versions of this, the mint one is banging and only 87 calories,” another said.
