Wayne Lineker offers replace after knockout as he says it ‘might’ve been worse’
Wayne Lineker has given an update on his condition after he was knocked out cold by a drunken yob in Ibiza.
Gary Lineker’s brother, 62, has taken to social media to speak out for the first time since being attacked and left unconscious in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday, June 12).
The distressing event occurred outside Eden bar in San Antonio, Ibiza, shortly after Wayne had been involved in a heated exchange with a group of men who seemed to be harassing one of his female friends – with reports stating that he stood up for the pal, who is called Bunny according to reports.

He corroborated this version of events on his Instagram and said he was “lucky” he wasn’t closer to the wall behind him, or the outcome could have been much worse for him.
He said: “I wanted to write this post to let everyone know that I’m doing ok… I have a few stitches and a swollen lip. It could have been much worse so I count myself very fortunate I wasn’t standing 2 yards further back, as my head would have impacted the wall.
“Obviously the video is very disturbing to see especially for my family. The papers were very accurate and it was a simple case of me just trying to protect a girl from being harassed.
“Thank you everyone for all your messages of concern the support has been really overwhelming.”
The Daily Star has contacted the Guardia Civil (Spanish police) for a comment on the altercation. According to an 18-year-old student from the UK who saw the whole scene unfold, the brawl was instigated when the troublemaker and his friends harassed a female friend of Wayne’s, thought to be in her 20s.
The witness said: “It was horrible – he looked like he could have been dead at one point. Wayne just fell on the floor and the man and his friends ran off.
“He was completely unconscious for about 20 minutes at least. He wasn’t really speaking much when he did eventually come back round.”
Scotty T from Geordie Shore was among the well-wishers under Wayne’s post. He said: “Sorry to see that mate! Hope you’re ok! Love you too bits . Il be back over soon [sic]”.
Chloe Ferry, also from the reality show, added: “Love you so much, if I was there I would have went mad. So angry about what’s happened!!!!”
Ex footballer turned reality star Jamie O’Hara added: “Jealousy the main root for this mate glad your ok, gutted I wasn’t there to help x [sic].”
DJ Charlie Sloth added a love heart emoji and his nephew George Lineker, Gary Lineker’s son, commented: “Lowest of the low.”
Earlier today, Wayne took to Instagram to share a heartfelt birthday message for his son.
The dad-of-four shared a nostalgic video of his son Freddie playing with a hula hoop to mark his lad’s 20th birthday.
