Football followers need Scottish star banned after horror problem on Ilkay Gundogan
Football fans want Ryan Porteous banned for a lengthy period after a horror challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.
Scotland were at sixes and sevens against the Euro 2024 hosts on Friday evening – and it went from bad to worse when Porteous, 25, was flashed a straight red. The Tartan Army had no answer for the Germans, who were already two goals to the good.
And after a goalmouth scramble, Porteous lunged, with both feet off the ground, into Gundogan. The challenge was initially ignored, but after a quick VAR check the Germans were awarded a penalty and Porteous was handed his marching orders.

“That’s a horrendous challenge from Porteous. Shouldn’t play again in this tournament,” one fan fumed. While a second said: “There’s the Porteous we all know and love. He’s tried to kill him!”
“Ryan Porteous should never play for Scotland again. What a disgrace,” a third posted. And another added: “That looked awful on Gundogan. Had to be a penalty and a red for Porteous. All good VAR decisions so far…”

It was a humbling first half for Scotland – who found themselves behind in the opening ten minutes after Toni Kroos turned on the class. The soon-to-be ex-Real Madrid man took half the Tartan Army out of the game with one ball.
Florian Wirtz needed no second invitation to turn the ball past a hapless Angus Gunn. Jamal Musiala doubled their lead nine minutes later.
Kai Havertz netted the German’s third before half-time, smashing the resulting penalty from Porteous’ horror challenge past Gunn.
