Rain and thunder to batter UK earlier than ‘tremendous heatwave’ in a matter of weeks
Soaking Brits have been offered some hope for this summer’s weather, with a “super heatwave” predicted for July.
The summer has got off to a rather wet start, with barbeques and pub gardens all over the nation turning out to be damp squibs. In fact, at the start of the month this paper reported Brits were warned they could even see snow this June.
While the chilly downpours look set to stay for at least a couple more weeks, sun-lovers have now been offered the prospect of sunshine somewhere on the horizon. According to Exacta Weather “major heat and heat dome scenarios are gaining significant ground for a hot July.”

The Met Office’s immediate prediction for UK weather includes “flood warnings” and “prevailing showers” over the next 3-5 days.
But Exacta Weather’s outlook is less bleak, as they announced people in the UK are set to experience a much warmer July than average this year.
The report added: “Our several weeks in advance summer 2024 forecast has been repeatedly seeing and portraying a much warmer than average July for this year, with the ever-increasing risk for some kind of heat dome scenario or super heatwave to develop within this same period.
“Additionally, we do now have some support for our own and long-term projections for July from elsewhere, and the current CFS runs have since swung around to this potentially prolonged and very hot idea within their last three model updates for in and around 6th and 7th July onwards.
“More to follow on this in the coming days and weeks…”
Similar predictions have been made by other forecasters about a rise in temperature next month, although only Exacta has so far employed the phrase “super heatwave”. The Met Office ‘s outlook from June 27 to July 11 reads: “Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above climatological average.”
Netweather‘s forecast for July 1 to July 9 reads: “Temperatures are likely to be above normal overall, though with uncertainty over the extent of the anomaly.” BBC Weather said: “With areas of high pressure likely to remain close to the UK, there is a greater chance of warmer, calmer and drier weather in the first week of July.”
