Hunt for good companion over as daters set sights on ‘six out of 10’ lovers

The hunt for Mr or Mrs Perfect is over as daters now set their sights on a “six out of 10” lovers, embracing the “Average Joe”.

A poll, of 800 adults who use dating apps, found 55% are seeking a partner who isn’t stereotypically “perfect”. And 81% claim they are on the hunt for someone who simply fits a “six out of 10” calibre.

With two-thirds having avoided connecting with someone after getting the “ick” over their profile image, most folk are looking for a match who simply shows a warm smile.

It came after Taskmaster telly star Joanne McNally declared men simply aren’t attracted to funny women.

The stand-up comic , 41, made the claim as she confessed to dipping her toe back into the dating world having ruled out ever getting married.

McNally, who starred alongside Steve Pemberton and Nick Mohammed in the latest series of Taskmaster, said dating as a female comic was a struggle.

She said being funny ‘got in the way’ and her career as a comic wasn’t a ‘honeypot for the lads’.

Speaking on the Comfort Eating podcast, the Irish comic said: “I’ll never get married (but) I’m dipping my toe.

“I don’t think the men comics are struggling in the same way but female comics, and I’ve spoken to other female comics about this, it is a different experience for us.

“Women are drawn to funny men but it doesn’t really seem to work in the same way.”
