Jay Slater’s mum despatched ‘kiss goodbye to your boy’ message as kidnap fears develop

Missing Brit Jay Slater’s terrified mum was sent a chilling message on Snapchat warning her ‘kiss goodbye to your boy’ as fears grow that he has been kidnapped.

Authorities have searched his holiday apartment on Spanish island Tenerife to find potential clues with one theory being that he was taken against his will.

Jay, 19, went missing at the start of this week and his mum Debbie Duncan said she hasn’t been able to sleep since.

She said: “There’s no ransom demand come in yet but I got a Snapchat about 10 minutes after I got off the plane saying ‘Kiss goodbye to your boy, you’re never going to see him again, he owes me a lot of money.’ which I passed on to police with the number it came from because I had my wits about me at the time and got my eldest son Zac to take a screen grab before it disappeared.

““I just want to be here for if he does turn up but I’ve got a bad feeling. I’m being warned there’s a lot of bad people in Tenerife.

“I just think he’s being held against his will. He’s not a stupid lad. He wouldn’t have gone walking down bloody mountains. There’s a road there with tourists and buses and properties, He’s not that daft.”

Jay’s last phone contact was with friend Lucy Mae near the tiny village of Masca in north-west Tenerife.

Officers went into the room he was sharing with a friend at a three-star apartment complex in Los Cristianos in the south of the island.

Apprentice bricklayer Jay, who is from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, was booked on a flight back to the UK tomorrow morning (Thursday, June 20).

Debbie, who has been joined on the island by the missing lad’s dad Warren, said she had his passport but wasn’t expecting him to reappear for his return flight.

She added: “Police have been into Jay’s room today. I’ve been in his room as well. But everything of Jay’s was neatly hung up, it’s just a normal room and there’s nothing untoward there.

“His passport was there along with all his euros which I’ve got now. I’m not sure he had any money on him when he made that last call to his friend Lucy on Monday morning before he vanished.”

Meanwhile his pal Lucy thinks “something weird’s going on” after his “suspicious” disappearance.

Lucy, who is helping the search, said: “There’s something weird going on. It is suspicious. In two days you’re telling me someone’s not seen him.

“There’s a restaurant 10 minutes away that he would have seen or walked past. It’s suspicious and it’s weird.”
