Southgate resolution will look worse the longer one England star is not in his workforce
Gareth Southgate could be seen in deep conversation with Declan Rice before England training.
It was England’s last session before heading to Frankfurt for their clash with Denmark in Group C. Perhaps Southgate was warning the Arsenal ace he was sticking with Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield, and that he would have the job of two men to do again.
But the absence of Luke Shaw means the Manchester United defender will miss the date with the Danes. Shaw has failed to prove his fitness after suffering a hamstring tear in February.

And the longer his absence if felt, the more critics will question Southgate’s decision to take the left back to Euro 2024 in the first place.
Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t had the best of starts to what could be his last Euros. The Portugal legend failed to shine in his side’s opening group win over Czech Republic.

Ronaldo spent most of the time moaning at the officials. And now a Swedish influencer has stuck the boot in as well.
Sanne Josefson, whoever she is, claims Ronaldo is the worst celebrity she’s ever met. Josefson also claimed Ronaldo spent the entire time they spent together talking about his washboard stomach.
Ronaldo vain? Surely not.
Jude Bellingham has earned comparisons to England legend Paul Gascoigne. And Gareth Southgate will be hoping these refer to Bellingham’s skill on the pitch.
Gazza was one of the greatest players of his generation. But he made as many headlines off the pitch as well as on it following a colourful and controversial private life.
The man himself insists ‘there’s only one Gazza’. But if Bellingham can emulate the football Gazza used to produce, he won’t be doing too bad.
A rare piece of positive news has filtered through regarding the organisation of Euro 2024.
The tournament has been beset with travel chaos regarding the trains and trams, while entry into stadiums has also been shambolic at times.
But following the intervention of the FA, UEFA have promised to make more access channels available to media at the entrance point to Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park, ahead of Englands second group game against Denmark.
Members of the media had to wait up to an hour to get into the stadium in Gelsenkirchen, with some of them even turned away due to not having a specific seat for the game.
While some decided to jump the queue, although it sounds like those guilty of this won’t have to now.
