England full-back Kyle Walker has revealed what Gareth Southgate has told the England team to do after taking the lead but some fans may not be convinced.

The Three Lions produced another underwhelming display as drew 1-1 with Denmark in their second match of Euro 2024 on Thursday evening.

England started well with Harry Kane giving them an early lead but it was the Danes who looked the better team after the goal.

Morten Hjulmand levelled the scores and fans were once again left questioning why the team wasn’t able to push on after going in front with Sunday’s opener against Serbia following a similar pattern.. 

Asked if Southgate had told the team to drop off after conceding, Walker said: ‘no, not at all.

‘The manager has expressed that he wants to play free, attacking football. Sometimes in a tournament you have to manage the game. We know we can do better.

‘This is tournament football, it’s a good Denmark team and we’re top of the group. Let’s take a positive. We’ve not lost and conceded a great goal. Let’s move on to the next game.

‘It’s the game. You sense in the game they had the upper hand in certain parts of the game. Rather than me charging forward, they score, and suddenly they’re blaming us in defence.’

The draw leaves England two points clear at the top of Group C ahead of their final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday.

If England were to finish second in their group they would face hosts Germany in the last-16.
