Revolut’s debit card airmiles loyalty scheme RevPoints has just landed in the UK.
Revolut launched its debit card airmiles loyalty scheme in Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Greece and Malta in January 2023 and now UK customers will be able to collect and use RevPoints.
Customers will be able to transfer RevPoints they collect to more than 30 airline loyalty programmes, including British Airways Avios points.
Revolut customers will not need to apply for a credit card to collect points as it is a debit card scheme.

How to earn RevPoints
Revolut customers can earn RevPoints by spending as usual on their Revolut debit card.
Depending on the type of plan they have, Revolut customers can earn up to 1 point per pound spent
Bonus points can be earned by upgrading your Revolut plan and hitting a spend target, completing challenges in the Revolut app, booking hotel stays via Revolut and signing up for RevPoints Spare Change.
Standard plan users can turn on the Spare Change feature in order to earn on card spending.
On top of the points they earn on card spending, Spare Change round-ups will be converted into additional points, at a rate of up to 50 points for every pound spared.
The number of points you earn varies based on the Revolut plan you have. Here’s what you can earn:
- Standard (free) – 1 RevPoint per £10 spent
- Plus (£3.99 per month) – 1 RevPoint per £10 spent
- Premium (£7.99 per month) – 1 RevPoint per £4 spent
- Metal (£14.99 per month) – 1 RevPoint per £2 spent
- Ultra (£45 per month) – 1 RevPoint per £1 spent
New customers can turbo boost their points with 3,000 points – equivalent to 3,000 air miles or up to £60 in travel discounts – after making 150 eligible transactions.
Existing Revolut customers can pocket up to 10,000 bonus points if they upgrade their plan and meet spending thresholds within the first 90 days.
For those on Revolut’s Ultra plan, customers who spend £2,500 a month could earn up to 30,000 RevPoints annually – that’s enough for a free round trip from London to New York or a £600 hotel discount, according to Revolut.
What else is it offering?
RevPoints can also be redeemed for discounts on premium holiday accommodation and holiday experiences and activities through the Lifestyle tab in the Revolut app.
For everyday shopping, points can also be used for discounts at brands such as French Connection and Dermalogica when shopping online with Revolut Pay.
How does it stack up to other card schemes?
There are significantly more points to be had with the likes of Amex and Barclaycard.
New American Express Gold card holders can currently get 30,000 bonus points as part of an enhanced offer running until 16 June.
The credit card giant has increased the sign-up bonus on its Preferred Rewards Gold credit card from 20,000 to 25,000 points.
New Amex Gold cardmembers can earn 25,000 points, boosted from the usual 20,000, when they spend £3,000 in the first three months of having the card.
While Barclaycard has a free Avios Mastercard which comes with a sign-up bonus for new customers of 5,000 Avios points if you spend £1,000 in the first three months.
There could be an appeal for customers who don’t want to sign up for a credit card to collect airmile points with Revolut’s scheme.
Rob Burgess of frequent flyer website Head for Points said: ‘Fundamentally it doesn’t seem to offer much value to a frequent flyer, to be honest. I can’t see anyone opening a Revolut account purely to take advantage of air miles earning opportunities.
‘Earning 1 Avios (or other airline mile) for every £10 spent on the free Revolut debit card is hardly going to get anyone excited, given that you can earn 10 times that with the free British Airways American Express card or the free Barclaycard Avios Mastercard. Even the Ultra card at £45 a month doesn’t out-earn the free BA Amex or free Barclaycard.’
‘It’s also difficult to see much crossover between the debit card market (typically teens or those with poor credit) and the sort of people who are looking to earn Avios for long haul business class flights.’
‘There are also the added risks of using debit cards for any major payments, such as the lack of legal protection via Section 75 if there are any problems with the transaction.’
