Southgate informed ‘stop instantly’ after clarification for poor England efficiency
England fans have told Gareth Southgate he needs to quit after his explanation for the Three Lions’ poor performance.
Southgate’s side huffed and puffed their way to a draw against Denmark on Thursday (June 20) evening. Harry Kane got the ball rolling for the Three Lions, after some excellent work from Kyle Walker, before they were pegged back by Morten Hjulmand.
And speaking after the game about the Three Lions perfromance, Southgate admitted: “We don’t have a natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips.” Phillips, 28, was dropped by Southgate after he failed to impress at club level.

“Did this guy just say we don’t have a natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips? He needs to leave immediately,” one fan fumed. While a second said: “Southgate’s comment about Kalvin Phillips is so very weird. Pick him then?”
“Trent gets a lot of flak, but surely the gravest insult he’s ever received is his own manager coming out and basically saying he’s not as good as Kalvin Phillips,” a third fumed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Declan Rice started in the midfield, but Alexander-Arnold was hooked shortly after the break for Conor Gallagher. Southgate admitted: “I wanted to get Conor on, we needed some energy and to press better.
“[Alexander-Arnold] had some moments where he’s delivered what we thought he would. We know it’s an experiment and we know that we don’t have a natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips.
“We’re trying some different things and at the moment we’re not flowing as we’d like, that’s for sure.”
England are top of Group C, two points clear of Denmark and Slovenia – who they will face on the final matchday of Tuesday (June 25) – as well as being three points clear of Serbia.
