Brit vacationer stabbed to dying in entrance of Spanish nightclub after ‘row’

A British tourist has been stabbed to death right outside a nightclub in Spain.

The grim incident happened in front of the popular Oxygen nightclub in Calella, near Barcelona. The man, believed to be 30-years-old was stabbed during an argument with other tourists, and died at 5am this morning.

Another person suffered injuries and is still in hospital – a police investigation led by Catalonia’s Mossos d’Esquadra police force has been launched.

No arrests have been made, but a Calella Police spokesman said in a very brief statement: “This morning there was a fight in a nightclub in the city. The result of the incident is one dead and one injured, who has been taken to a hospital. The attack was by knife.”

Pictures from the scene show the club – bathed in swathes of luminous lights – surrounded by police and cordoned off to locals.

Mayor Marc Burch has also been seen visiting the area to find out what happened.

Local reports state that the roads surrounding the club are also closed off. No comments has been made by the venue’s management, and it is unclear whether or not the argument that broke out was connected to it at all.

Authorities have reportedly been in contact with the British Consulate to help inform the victim’s next of kin and to begin work to repatriate the body to the UK. An appeal has also been put out for anyone who may have witnessed the altercation – in an area very popular with tourists of multiple nationalities – to come forward.
