Missing Brit Jay Slater assertion as pal offers newest search replace

A friend of missing Brit Jay Slater has demanded an end to the “nightmare” the family is going through, and has provided an update on the search for the 19-year-old.

Jay had gone to the Canary Islands with friends for the New Rave Generation music festival last week. On Sunday, June 16, the apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, left the festival and he hasn’t been heard from since around 8.15am the next day.

On Monday morning, Jay tried to trek back to the south of the island and rang his friend Lucy Mae Law to tell her his phone battery was down to 1% – he disappeared shortly after, with local police taking on the huge search.

And as the search continues, friend Rachel Louise Harg – posting on a Facebook group set up to help the search – said that the family are “drained beyond words”.

She explained: “There isn’t an update for anyone unfortunately.

“Struggling to find words at this time but all I can say is we are looking still and everyone is doing all they can!! We are drained beyond words I just can’t say no more I wish I could I wish this would end now this living nightmare SEARCHES are on going and we remain positive.

“If anyone as not got anything positive to say don’t even bother now just go away honestly. Thanks to you all supporting and helping we can’t thank you any more , much love. Please stop messaging me and the family of Jay unless it’s vital.”

Earlier this week, Andy Watson – the partner of Jay’s mum Debbie Duncan – has spoken out about the abuse the family has been dealing with, as well as the bizarre demands of someone claiming to be a psychic who demanded flights out to Tenerife.

The 63-year-old said: “They told Debbie: ‘If you paid for my flights to Tenerife I will tell you where he is’ – it’s just despicable. Some people just seem to thrive off people’s agony. The worst is not knowing what’s happened. That gets to you. I know what his mum is going through. Mums and sons are close and they are the same. I wouldn’t wish this on anybody. It’s terrible.”
