Spinning Scotland fan bangs head on wall and loses coat as Euro get together goes flawed

One Scotland fan might have woken up with an almighty Euros hangover today.

Ahead of Steve Clarke’s side crunch clash with Hungary in Stuttgart, social media footage showed one member of the Tartan Army spinning in circles down by the Neckar River. The man, dressed in a kilt and a Scottish shirt, then loses his balance and appears to bang his head on a concrete wall.

Thankfully, he appears to be uninjured – as the clip did the rounds on social media. However, he is now minus his coat, which he somehow manages to comically throw over the wall and into the Neckar while falling.

“Get him up top. Will have the same heat map as Che Adams,” one fan joked. While a second said: “This is already epic but the jacket over the wall takes it to legendary status!”

“What a dive, yellow card for simulation,” a third posted. And another added: “Quite an elaborate way of chucking your jacket away…”

The Tartan Army are already packing their bags, as Scotland were dumped out of the Euros on Monday evening. Scotland needed a win against Hungary to harbour any hope of making it to the knockout stages.

Clarke had seen his side thumped 5-1 by Germany on the opening matchday, before they were held 1-1 by Switzerland. And on Monday evening Scotland were beaten 1-0 by Hungary, thanks to Kevin Csoboth’s 99th minute winner in Stuttgart.

Scotland’s boss Clarke was left livid after he thought his side should have been awarded a penalty: “The biggest point in the game is the penalty kick. Why is it not given? I need an answer. I need to know why that’s not a penalty kick.

“I don’t understand how VAR can look at that and say it’s not a penalty. I’ve got words for it, but I like my money.”

The result left Scotland bottom of Group A and ended any hopes of them making it through to the knockout stages as one of the best third placed teams.
