Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘dropped by England’ as alternative vs Slovenia named

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be dropped by Gareth Southgate’s for England’s final group stage clash at Euro 2024.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, has been deployed in the midfield by Southgate at this summer’s festival of football. However, after two poor England performances, Southgate has recognised that a change has to be made in the middle of the park.

The England boss has decided to drop Alexander-Arnold in favour of Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, as per The Athletic, for the Three Lions’ clash with Slovenia on Tuesday (June 25).

The Liverpudlian has twice been hooked by Southgate in favour of Gallagher this summer. And it appears the 54 minutes he saw against Denmark was enough for him – with Southgate now abandoning Alexander-Arnold’s midfield experiment.

The rest of the squad looks set to remain the same, meaning Alexander-Arnold will drop to the bench as Kyle Walker – who had a role in England’s goal against Denmark – will retain his spot at right-back.
