Brits ditch pub to observe England within the Euros at residence because of key issue

England fans are ditching the pub in favour of the sofa to watch Gareth Southgate and the Three Lions.

While sun-soaked beer gardens may be what most people think of when they think of fans and the Euros, new research revealed that more and more people are choosing to watch England games at home. The same research also revealed that the most-in-demand football-watching snack is a stone-baked pizza.

Three-quarters (76%) of England fans are planning to watch the tournament this summer in the comfort of their own home, with 55% saying that cost is a factor in deciding whether or not to go to the pub or watch from home.

The data, gathered by grocery delivery service Hello Fresh, said that despite England’s poor showing in their 1-1 draw with Denmark on Thursday (June 20), 72% of Brits are still planning to sit down to watch the game tonight against Slovenia (June 25).

The same data reports that 46% will be either hosting people at their or going to pals’ homes to watch the game with hosts expected to spend on average 3120 on food and drinks for their guess.

Nationwide, it is expected that 67% will be watching alongside loved ones, be that family or friends.

Four in 10 will be putting out a posh spread for those people with charcuterie boards (11%), craft beers (42%), cheese boards (27%) and English fizz (18%) on the menu.

Meanwhile, 86% of Brits say that to serve up crisps in a bowl alongside a can of beer is outdated and old-fashioned.

On the booze, 52% of people have said they are more likely to neck wine and spirits than they are bowers during the tournament
