England followers throw empty cups at Gareth Southgate and jeer after Slovenia draw
Gareth Southgate was met by a shower of empty cups after England’s snoozefest with Slovenia.
The Three Lions were held by the Balkan nation in their final Group C game. And despite England heading into the knockout stage in first place, England fans were left furious at their side’s performance.
Southgate had headed over to the England fans after the full-time whistle at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne. However, a video has appeared on social media where he was met by a chorus of boos and a number of plastic cups that had been launched in his direction.

“They pay good money to travel to Germany and they stick on them performances it’s well deserved,” one fan fumed. As a second said: “Let’s face it, it’s the closest he’ll be getting to a cup!”
“We’re all frustrated but that’s shocking behaviour,” a third pointed out. And another added: “Honestly pathetic that. As poor as he’s been at this tournament he’s turned us into contenders but he can’t manager world stars…”
