Erik ten Hag closes in on new Man Utd contract with Red Devils icon set to hitch
Erik ten Hag is closing in on a new deal that will keep him at Manchester United until 2027.
Ten Hag has gone from avoiding the sack, to securing a two-year contract extension worth almost £30m. The Dutchman, who was given the green light to continue as United boss earlier this month, has agreed the new deal in principle following talks with club bosses.
United and Ten Hag’s representatives are understood to be finalising the terms of the new deal, which should be confirmed this week. It will include clauses in it relating to both his and the team’s performance.

Part of the new agreement will include a shake-up of United’s coaching staff, with former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy set to return to the club as part of Ten Hag’s backroom team.
Van Nistelrooy was among the candidates to succeed Vincent Kompany at Burnley, but turned them down to take on the coaching role at United instead. Ten Hag was left in limbo for almost three weeks after guiding United to a stunning FA Cup final triumph over bitter rivals Manchester City.
