Glastonbury ‘prone to keep dry’ as newest climate forecast launched
Glasto’s in for a mixed bag of weather, says the Met Office, as thousands gear up to rock out at the iconic festival.
The legendary Glastonbury Festival is ready to kick off from Wednesday, with hordes of music fans set to pitch their tents at Pilton, Somerset. The weather boffins have given the lowdown, predicting it’ll be “largely dry and cloudy” with a chance of light showers not quite the scorching sunshine some might’ve wished for, but hey, it beats wading through a mud-fest!
The 900-acre farm is going to be buzzing before the big names hit the Pyramid Stage on Friday, with Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and Sza topping the bill. The Met Office has dished out a mostly cheery forecast for the five-day bash, though they’re warning of possible showers sprinkling the scene from Wednesday right through to Sunday.

Met Office’s own Andrea Bishop has piped up, saying: “From Friday to Sunday it will remain largely dry and cloudy, with the potential for lighter showers across the weekend. Conditions will be slightly above average between 18C and 21C.”
And for those swarming into Glastonbury on Wednesday, expect a sizzler with mercury hitting the 25C to 27C mark just in time for the biggest arrival day at Worthy Farm, with queues likely snaking around the site, reports the Mirror.
Campers at the festival could be dealing with “light rain” and a “cold front” come Thursday, with temperatures averaging around 20C. The mercury is expected to dip slightly to 18C on Friday, but warmer averages of between 20C and 21C are predicted for Saturday and Sunday.
This weather update follows advice from Nick Higginson, CEO of Phoenix Health and Safety, who has urged festival-goers to stay hydrated during the event.
He warned: “Being outdoors in the heat can be physically demanding, especially if you’re on your feet dancing. If you combine this with drinking alcohol, it can easily lead to exhaustion.”
A stellar line-up of artists will be gracing the stage, including Canadian sensation Shania Twain, who has been given the prestigious legends slot, previously filled by music greats such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, Lionel Richie and many more. Fans can expect to hear Shania’s biggest hits like Man! I Feel Like A Woman!, You’re Still The One and That Don’t Impress Me Much.
Other acts set to perform include LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz and PJ Harvey.
