Nigel Farage booed by livid celebs as he beats Susanna Reid at award present

Nigel Farage faced a chorus of boos as he scooped up an award at the TRIC Awards in London, with the crowd giving him a right earful.

The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant strutted his stuff on the green carpet before heading to the stage to accept his gong amidst jeers from the star-studded audience. Unfazed by the chilly welcome, Farage quipped: “It’s a bit like a wrestling event isn’t it!”.

While receiving his accolade, Farage hit back at the hecklers: “Those that boo clearly don’t get what a competition is. A massive thank you to our viewers but I also want to say a big shoutout as I did some work for another TV company. I did spend some time in the I’m A Celebrity jungle and Fred I’ve seen up here.

“He and I would never agree but we did work well together in the camp. I’m A Celebrity, a great show. Sadly my TV career has been somewhat curtailed because I have another mission coming up on the 4th July.”

Currently in the political fray with Reform UK, Farage had previously announced a comeback during a press conference after initially deciding against it. He declared: “Difficult though it is, I can’t let down those millions of people, I simply can’t do it, it’d be wrong. So I have decided I’ve changed my mind, it’s allowed you know, it’s not always a sign of weakness, it could potentially be a sign of strength. So I am going to stand in this election.”

Television viewers might be familiar with Farage from his stint on I’m A Celebrity, where the ITV show saw a drop in millions of viewers because of his participation. Prior to entering the jungle, he boasted the show would gain more viewers due to his presence, reports the Mirror.

His quote at that time was: “Do you know what? There’s a lot more people who haven’t watched the programme that know me or supported me – some of the millions that have supported me over the years – I think net, I’ll bring people to the programme, not diminish.”

“All right? Anyone who’s a lover of I’m A Celebrity who doesn’t watch it just because I’m on it has got to be an incredibly small-minded person.”

The rumour goes that he was paid a staggering £1.5million to participate, making him the second politician in two years to cause a stir after Matt Hancock in the previous series.

He became Ant and Dec’s favourite punching bag for their host of jokes on air. In a humorous skit on the show, the hosts mocked the ratings for Farage’s employer, GB News.

Dec apprised: ” Nigel Farage. Not just known for his controversial political career, he’s also got his own show on GB News. Of course, he won’t be presenting that over the next three weeks. So we’d like to apologise to all of GB News’s viewers.”

Ant chimed in with laughter after saying: “Sorry Keith, sorry Linda,”.
