Last week Trump floated a wild theory – that 81-year-old President Joe Biden would use some sort of performance-enhancing drugs to make it through their 90-minute presidential debate.

The ex-president said at a rally in Wisconsin that Biden was going to be ‘so pumped up’ and seemingly alluded to cocaine being found in a White House locker last summer.

‘And what is the response to former President Trump’s claims that President Biden may be taking something tonight to boost his performance?’ a reporter asked the press secretary on board Air Force One.

Jean-Pierre responded:

I don’t think I should dignify that with an answer.

Joe Biden has been hit by a devastating new poll from Gallup which shows his approval rating at 37 percent.

That is the lowest level Gallup has recorded for Biden since 2007 – when he was a U.S. Senator, and before he was president or vice president.

In a further blow a stunning 56 percent of Democrats told Gallup they would prefer another candidate to Biden.

There was also a massive 37-point ‘enthusiasm gap’ with only 42 percent of Democrats saying they were pleased with Biden as their nominee, while 79 percent of Republicans were pleased with having Trump as theirs.

Democrat enthusiasm for Biden is significantly less than it was for Hillary Clinton in 2016 when 64 percent were pleased with her as their candidate.

Gallup took its poll between June 3 and June 23, starting shortly after Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in his hush money trial in New York.

The debate will last 90 minutes, there is no audience, and a candidate’s microphone will be muted when their opponent is speaking.

More than half of all U.S, adults are expected to see or hear part of the debate through news or social media.

For both candidates, it could make or break their campaign.

Stephanie Grisham, melania’s former chief of staff, told NBC News it would be ‘very surprising if she (Melania) didn’t attend.’

In a text message to the network Grisham said:

While Melania can be scarce for regular campaign events, she knows the importance (and significance) of being supportive as a spouse by attending events such as a presidential debate.

When Joe Biden first ran for the presidency in the 1980s he was hit by a plagiarism scandal.

A speech he gave was reminiscent of one by the then Briish Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock.

Kinnock, now 82, tells Politico that Biden can still do the job:

Joe is six months, eight months, something like that, younger than I am. I look at myself, as you say, pretty much retired for certainly the last 15 years. And I think, Could I do the job? And the answer is, Yeah, I could do it.

Corners of the Internet jumped on speculation, denied by the network, that CNN would institute a 2-minute broadcast delay to try to tilt the presidential debate to Joe Biden.

It began when Patrick Webb of Leading Report posted on X information claiming the network would institute a timed delay for the debate, which is set to begin at 9 pm sharp.

‘BREAKING: CNN will implement a 1-2 minute delay for tonight’s presidential debate instead of the standard 7-second delay, potentially allowing time to edit parts of the broadcast,’ according to the account.

That set off a wave of conspiratorial postings that the fix was in. The post quickly racked up more than 2 million views.

Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt would not say whether former first lady Melania Trump will attend Thursday’s debate or if she’s traveling with the former president to Atlanta.

Appearing on MSNBC, Leavitt was asked by Kristen Welker if Melania Trump was on Trump Force One. Donald Trump was spotted boarding his private 747 solo earlier Thursday.

‘I don’t have a specific list of names,’ Leavitt said.

When Welker kept probing her if the former first lady would attend, Leavitt said: ‘You will find out when he lands in Atlanta.’

Melania Trump did not walk off the plane with Donald Trump when he landed in Atlanta. The former president exited Trump Force One solo.

The Biden campaign on Thursday released a new TV ad that touts President Biden’s fight for reproductive rights and blasts Trump on abortion ahead of the debate. The add features Dr. Lauren Miller, a high-risk obstetrician, who left Idaho because of the state’s abortion ban.

‘Two years ago, Trump overturned Roe v Wade. Because of the abortion bans across the country, women’s lives are at risk,’ Miller says.

‘Physicians could be tried with a felony for saving that woman’s life too early. The penalties are so severe; felony, imprisonment, loss of license, those are terrifying things. These laws are truly barbaric. They are putting us back decades, if not centuries,’ she continues.

Miller says ‘Donald Trump did this. He put women’s lives in danger.’

Abortion is one of the top issues for Democrats this election and is expected to be a central focus for Biden as he goes after Trump during the debate.

Mary Trump, the estranged niece of Donald Trump, will be in the spin room in Atlanta to support President Joe Biden on Thursday evening.

She is the daughter of Fred Trump Jr., the former president’s older brother, and has become a fervent Trump critic.

‘For my whole life I have witnessed my uncle’s narcissism and cruelty. His sense of inferiority has always driven his jealousy and his pathological need to dominate others and this is information that is crucially important for the American people to have in advance of the most important election of our lifetimes,’ Mary Trump said in a statement released by the Biden campaign.

The ‘spin room’ of a debate is a chance for supporters of each candidate to talk up their performance and disparage the rival. Candidates will sometimes bring guests meant to throw off their rivals and shake up their confidence ahead of a debate.

Donald Trump’s campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt was furious when she appeared on Fox News after a Biden surrogate referred to illegal migrant crime as ‘bumper sticker slogans’.

South Carolina State Senator Dick Harpootlian, who was also convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh’s defense lawyer, suggested victims of those crimes are for ‘bumper stickers’ and a ‘catchphrase.’

Workers set up a massive fence Thursday around the perimeter of the presidential debate site at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters.

Protesters are expected to descend on Georgia’s capital city to demonstrate outside the first showdown between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

One shirtless man braved the muggy heat to show up early Thursday morning to protest Biden ahead of his arrival in Atlanta with signs reading: ‘Lock up Biden’ and ‘Biden betrayed America and Israel.’

Law enforcement is anticipating that the debate won’t be the only area where two opposing sides clash on Thursday night.

One protest group expected to gather outside the debate are pro-Palestinian demonstrators, who have descended on public areas nationwide to express their unhappiness with how the Biden administration is handling the Israel-Hamas conflict.

It’s also likely that other protest groups could include pro-abortion demonstrators, environmental activists and just general pro-Trump groups that like to follow around the former president and show their support for his reelection and reiterate their belief the 2020 election was stolen.

CNN is pushing back on reports the debate will air on an up to two minute delay.

The network responded online to a post reporting the alleged delay writing: ‘This is false. The debate will begin live at 9pm ET.’

It comes as some including Donald Trump Jr. have posted online suggesting the debate would be manipulated.

‘Live TV has a seven second delay. Why on earth would CNN need a 1-2 MINUTE delay unless they were planning a manipulating tonight’s debate?’ Trump Jr. wrote.

Rumors often are floated ahead of presidential debates, but they have taken on increased intensity ahead of the 2024 debate with the promotion of Trump allies.

Jill Biden stopped in Virginia Beach on Thursday as part of her journey to Atlanta for the presidential debate, meeting with campaign organizers.

The location of her stop is notable: Trump will host his post-debate rally on Friday in Virginia Beach, which is home to several major military installations.

Trump supporters greeted the first lady’s motorcade as she arrived. In her remarks, she repeated an attack line that her husband Joe Biden has used on his Republican rival.

‘When I hear Trump call members of our military losers and suckers, you know, how dare he. How dare he. How dare he,’ she said referencing a report of what Trump allegedly said about American soldiers buried in France.

President Biden greeted a crowd of supporters outside his hotel in downtown Atlanta ahead of the first 2024 presidential debate:

Judge Aileen Cannon isn’t done letting Donald Trump’s lawyers square off against prosecutors in her Florida courtroom.

After holding three days of hearings in recent days, Cannon, who is accused by critics of allowing Trump’s team to delay the case, has granted a hearing to revisit a federal judge’s ruling that pierced attorney client privilege.

It relates to the ‘crime-fraud exception’ ruling that allowed for the use of information from Trump lawyer Evan Corcoran, which made its way into Trump’s criminal indictment in the case. Trump’s campaign praised the decision.

Americans are weighing in ahead of the presidential debate with bets on everything from what is said or not said to who will raise their voice first, interrupt the moderator and more.

The odds are -150 that President Biden will be the first candidate to tell his opponent to ‘shut up’ while Donald Trump is +110, according to BetOnline.

The over-under that Biden will say ‘folks’ is 4.5 while the over-under on how many times Trump will say ‘stolen’ or ‘rigged’ is 3.5. The over-under of the ex-president saying ‘fake news’ is 1.5.

There are -200 odds Trump will scold the moderator and +1000 Biden will lose his footing.

There are also odds on which nickname Trump will say first. Sleepy Joe has odds of -150 while Crooked Hillary is +700.

The odds on Hunter Biden being mentioned over two times is +100 while the odds under 2 times are -140.

Odds of a candidate’s wife being mentioned are -300 for Jill Biden and +200 for Melania Trump.

The debate winner as per polls according to the odds are -140 Trump and +100 Biden.

Donald Trump left for Atlanta on Thursday afternoon, appearing to board his plane Trump Force One solo.

One of his spokespeople, Margo Martin, posted a video to X of the former president walking up the stairs of his 747. He walked up by himself with no sign of wife Melania Trump nor any other members of his family beside him.

Melania’s office has not responded to multiple inquiries from DailyMail.com as to whether she will attend tonight’s first presidential debate.

Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt tells Fox News that the CNN debate policy of muting microphones when a candidate isn’t talking as to ‘protect Biden’. She said:

That was a requirement requested by the Biden campaign in a clear effort to protect him. However, President Trump agreed on it to deliver on his promise to debate Joe Biden at any time, anywhere, any place:

He has said himself debate is like a boxing might, you have to adjust as you go throughout the fight. We do know the moderators at CNN have a history of anti-Truimp statements. We hope it will be a fair debate.

The House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Biden’s ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer in contempt of Congress after he failed to hand over audio recordings of his interviews with the president.

Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told DailyMail.com that Biden ‘knowingly gave Mr. Zwonitzer classified information, he said so in the interview himself.’

‘Zwonitzer tried to destroy evidence when he found out Hur was named special counsel. He tried to get rid of it all on his computer  He ultimately turned his computer over his laptop over to Special Counsel Hur and they were able to retrieve the audio recording of his interview with President Biden.’

He went on to say that Zwonitzer said Biden had ‘strong motivations for ignoring classified procedures because he was writing a book, a book for which he got paid a million bucks. So we have motive, an $8 million motive.’

The White House Correspondents’ Association is asking CNN to reconsider its decision to not allow the travel print reporter into the debate hall for the entire proceeding.

A print reporter travels with the president wherever he goes to be an independent eyes and ears on all his activity.

WHCA President Kelly O’Donnell of NBC News argues this is necessary for the debate to document any incidents that may happen off-camera. She notes Joe Biden’s campaign supports the request and that Donald Trump’s campaign – which has its own separate print pool – does not object.

The WHCA is deeply concerned that CNN has rejected our repeated requests to include the White House travel pool inside the studio. Through conversations and advocacy, we urged CNN to grant access to at least one print pool reporter for the duration of the debate.

WHCA has been informed that one print reporter will be permitted to enter the studio during a commercial break to briefly observe the setting. That is not sufficient in our view and diminishes a core principle of presidential coverage. The White House pool has a duty to document, report and witness the president’s events and his movements on behalf of the American people.

It remains to be seen whether the debate moves the needle in the polling for Trump and Biden, but either way, it will likely serve as one powerful tool for fundraising.

Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden have already sent out a flurry of emails ahead of their rematch, and more are expected on debate night.

The showdown will also allow the candidates to deliver oneliners that can be clipped for online fundraising purposes.

A Trump fundraising email the day before the debate read ‘Should I wear this during the debate?’ with an image of a hat.

Another read ‘The whole world will be watching as President Trump DESTROYS Crooked Joe.’

Biden’s fundraising appeal took a different approach.

‘I wanted to reach out before I debate Donald Trump tonight,’ read an email attributed to Biden.

The Judiciary Committee released transcripts on Thursday of interviews with some of the 51 ex-intelligence officials who signed onto the open letter asserting that the Hunter Biden laptop had ‘all the classic earmarks’ of Russian disinformation.

Among the transcripts released were interviews with Michael Morell, the former deputy director of the CIA who organized the Hunter Biden letter, former DNI James Clapper and former director of the CIA John Brennan.

Joe Biden has emerged from his days-long debate preparations at Camp David, the presidential retreat.

He arrived at Andrews Air Force Base by helicopter and then boarded Air Force One for the flight to Atlanta.

Millions of people are expected to tune in to watch the Biden-Trump debate, the earliest general election debate ever and the only one ever with two men who both have served as president.

The current record for the most watched presidential debate in U.S. history was the general election debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in 2016.

84 million people tuned in to view the first debate between the two on September 26. It was the first general election debate with a woman presidential nominee.

Before that, the most-watched debate ever was between Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan in 1980 with 80 million viewers.

By comparison, the September 2020 debate between Trump and Biden was viewed by just over 73 million people.

The least-viewed debate was between President Bill Clinton and Bob Dole in 1996 with just over 36 million viewers.

The first-ever televised presidential debate between two candidates with John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon was watched by 66 million viewers.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is trying to make debate night happen anyway – after not qualifying to make it on CNN’s debate stage.

He’s holding an event in West Hollywood that he’s dubbed ‘The Real Debate’ and tapped longtime television personality John Stossel to be his moderator.

‘Go to TheRealDebate.com to watch me answer the same debate questions live. I’m going to be on the debate stage with or without their permission,’ Kennedy said in a video previewing tonight’s event.

Kennedy fell short in meeting the polling requirements to participate in the showdown between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

His campaign pushed that he’ll be appearing on enough states’ ballots to meet the 270 Electoral Vote threshold – another CNN qualification – but state election officials disputed some of those claims.

President Joe Biden‘s campaign teased the possibility that Donald Trump won’t show up to tonight’s high stakes presidential debate, with millions set to tune in to watch their scheduled clash – prompting furious pushback from Trump and his camp.

‘Listen, I think the Trump team is playing games that we’ve always seen them do it, right? They like to use debates as entertainment process. They like to complain about debates. Sometimes they skip out on debates,’ said Biden campaign communications director Michael Tyler on CNN.

‘The president will be there tonight. We still assume that Donald Trump will be there as well,’ he said, once again planning the seed of doubt.

Trump’s campaign immediately rejected the idea when contacted by DailyMail.com.

‘Of course’ he will show up, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung responded.

Democrats are running a mobile billboard ad that will circle the debate venue in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday evening and highlight Donald Trump’s record on restricting abortion access.

The ads also focus on Trump’s 2020 call to Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger demanding he ‘find’ the more than 11,000 votes needed to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

‘As Donald Trump prepares to lie for 90 straight minutes on the debate stage this evening, the DNC is already on the ground in Atlanta to remind voters of how he tried to undermine Georgia’s democracy, threatens to leave working families behind again, and is hellbent on ripping away reproductive freedoms,’ DNC Spokesperson Abhi Rahman said in a statement.

‘Tonight, voters across the country will see the clear choice in front of them, and they will make Trump a loser once again in November.’

The DNC also rolled-out five billboards in Atlanta that sarcastically welcome Trump to Atlanta ‘for the first time since becoming a convicted felon.’

Former President Donald Trump pushed a wild theory last week – that President Joe Biden was going to do cocaine to get ‘pumped up’ for tonight’s debate.

But eight years ago, it was Trump who was accused of using the white powder.

After Trump’s first presidential debate in September 2016 against Democrat Hillary Clinton, former Democratic National Committee chair and Vermont Gov. Howard Dean suggested that the Republican’s sniffing was due to drug use.

‘Notice Trump sniffing all the time. Coke user?’ Dean – a medical doctor by trade – mused.

Here’s the interesting constellation. So, he sniffs during the presentation, which is something that users do. He also has grandiosity, which is something that accompanies that problem. He has delusions. I’m not talking about being crazy, but for example, when he told everybody it was very smart not to pay taxes and then denied he said it, after he said it in front of 100 million people. It’s not that he’s delusionary about it; it’s that he thinks somehow he’s going to not get caught. That is delusional. He has trouble with pressured speech. He interrupted Hillary Clinton 29 times. He couldn’t keep himself together.”

So, look, do I think at 70 years old he has a cocaine habit? Probably not. But, you know, it something that – I think it would be interesting to ask him and see if he ever had a problem with that.”

Phillippe Reines, a Democratic political consultant who helped former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton prepare for debates with Trump in 2016, said:

You have two men that have not debated in four years.

(They) don’t like each other, haven’t seen each other, (are) pretty rusty heading into the biggest night of their lives. That about sums up what’s at stake.

There has been speculation Trump could use the debate to announce who his running mate will be.

His search has reportedly narrowed to three top candidates, all of whom will be there for tonight’s debate.

Trump says he has made up his mind, but he is keeping everyone – including the hopefuls – guessing.

The top three are North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Ohio Senatior J.D. Vance, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

The Supreme Court announced it will issue decisions on Friday and Monday. It is rare that the court extended its term into July, they usually try and aim to wrap up by the end of June.

There are several blockbuster cases left this term:

• Trump v. United States: This case will determine if ex-President Donald Trump has immunity from federal prosecution over his alleged efforts to overthrow the 2020 election.
• Fischer v. United States: The court will decide if prosecutors can charge January 6 defendants – and Donald Trump – under an obstruction law. This outcome could impact Trump’s federal case – potentially tossing two of his charges.
• City of Grants Pass, Oregon v. Gloria Johnson: Whether homeless can be punished for occupying public spaces.
• NetChoice, LLC v. Paxton and Moody v. NetChoice, LLC: This is a First Amendment case dealing with whether states can tell social media giants to remove certain posts.
• Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo and Relentless, Inc. v. Department of Commerce: This case deals with federal statute enforcement.

Buckhead, a ritzy neighborhood in north Atlanta, is full of expensive shopping malls and glassy high-rise apartments humming with locals.

Atlanta is set to host the first presidential debate Thursday evening at 9 p.m. ET, but Buckhead residents tell DailyMail.com they don’t care about the event – or the candidates.

‘I hate to say it, but I don’t think I’m on either side,’ Kira told DailyMail.com when asked about who she was backing before the debate. ‘I think they just forgot about the people, and we’re just really struggling out here.’

In a Georgia poll released two days ago, Donald Trump had a five-point lead over Joe Biden.

The swing state is crucial in the outcome of the general election in November and is one being targeted by both campaigns.

Trump is on 43 per cent and Biden on 38 percent, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll.

The poll is a setback for Biden who became the first Democrat in nearly 30 years to win the Peach State in 2020 on his way to the White House.

For decades Democrats have harbored dreams of turning the Lone Star State blue.

Now, a shock poll has Joe Biden just six points behind Donald Trump.

A victory for Biden in this Republican bastion – home of The Dallas Cowboys and The Alamo (below) – would hole Trump’s chances of the White House below the water line.

It is happening partly because of an influx of liberals from states like California and New York.

And there are also demographic shifts in big Texan cities like Houston, Dallas, and Austin which have all been moving left for years.

SMU political science professor Cal Jillson told Texas News:

As they became more diverse, they became more liberal…the Hispanic and Asian populations have grown in Texas. Those cities then have become more Democratic.

What tips the balance is the suburbs, and those traditionally are red, but not as deep red as rural Texas. These are sort of shifting a bit…particularly suburban women have been uncomfortable with Donald Trump on the issue of abortion, and on the issue of immigration.

The question of whether or not Melania Trump will attend Thursday night’s presidential debate remains a mystery as questions mount over whether the former first lady will publicly campaign with her husband.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris both responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion in Idaho.

Yet, this is exactly what is happening in states across the country since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

A Democrat has not won a statewide race in Texas in twenty years, but the polling shows a closer race than some might expect in a red state with just over four months to go before the election.

The University of Texas at Tyler poll found Trump had 46 percent among registered voters while Biden had 40 percent. Another six percent said they would like to vote for someone else.

Among likely voters, Trump is at 48 percent while Biden is at 43 percent. And when third-party candidates are included Trump is at 47 percent while Biden is at 41 percent.

Only 25 percent of voters in Texas believe the country is headed in the right direction. 73 percent said it is on the wrong track.

The biggest case remaining is about whether Trump has immunity from prosecution.

The case deals with whether emergency room doctors in Idaho, where abortion is nearly banned, can turn away pregnant patients who need the procedure.

Bloomberg first reported on a copy of a ruling that was briefly posted on the court’s website before being taken down that would allow abortions to be carried out in Idaho in cases of medical emergencies.

That final decision could come down today.

But those green lights are off when it is not in a candidate’s turn and their mic is muted.

CNN showed that when the candidate is seen on television attempting to interrupt or speak with the mic off, they cannot be heard on TV.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will broadcast a livestreamed response to the debate.

Kennedy’s absence from the debate stage carries risk for his insurgent quest to shake up the Republican and Democratic dominance of the U.S. political system.

The candidate says he can’t win unless voters know he’s running and believe he can defeat Biden, a Democrat, and Trump, a Republican.

That problem will become increasingly acute as the debate, followed by the major party conventions in July and August, push more voters to tune into the race.

Stefanie Spear, a Kennedy campaign spokeswoman, said:

Mr. Kennedy has a full schedule for July with many public events, mostly on the East Coast and including one big rally. We will start announcing the events next week.”

Nearly half of registered voters think President Joe Biden will bomb in tonight’s prime time debate in CNN, according to a new New York Times / Siena College poll.

That includes 24 percent who think the president will do ‘not too well’ and a quarter who believe he’ll perform ‘not well at all.’

That is a worse prediction than how voters think Donald Trump, 78, will fare against Biden, 81. Fifteen percent think Trump will do ‘not too well’ and 19 percent think he’ll do not well at all, for a total of 34 percent predicting a bad night for him.

The negative predictions aren’t necessarily bad for Biden. Candidates can have a strong night by beating people’s expectations, which is one reason Trump has been talking up Biden’s skills of late and even suggesting without evidence that he’ll be medicated. But the poll has a bad top-line number for Biden: voters would pick Trump over him 48-42 if the election were held today.
