John Terry’s household life – childhood sweetheart to purchasing twins matching Mercs
John Terry is rarely out of the limelight and last night he made more headlines after branding the BBC ‘disgraceful’ for their coverage of Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty miss.
The Chelsea legend, who suffered his own penalty heartache in the 2008 Champions League final, was sitting at home when he shared his thoughts on Instagram. His lavish mansion is in Sussex and it boasts of a library, stables and tennis court and is worth an eye-watering £4.35million.
The 43-year-old lives at the stunning property with his wife, Toni, and twin children, Summer Rose and Georgie John, after buying it in 2019 – one year after he retired from professional football following a brief spell at Aston Villa.

And while the former England captain is glued to Euro 2024 like the rest of us, he also shared a glimpse into his family life to his 8.8million followers in recent days.
He posted pictures with his children after they turned 18 before they then graduated from school. And below, we take a closer look inside the family life of JT, who is winning on and off the pitch.
Childhood Sweetheart
While Terry may now live a life of luxury, the former defender came from humble beginnings, and used to pocket just £48 a week as a teenage Chelsea apprentice. Iit was during his time when he met his future wife, Toni Poole, who had no idea he played football when they first began dating.

She even used to buy him dinner because he barely had any spare cash and speaking to The Sun, she said: “We hit it off straight away and I thought he was very nice. I had no idea he was a footballer to start with until I began seeing him on the TV.”
Toni added: “We started going out for dinners. I would always pay because he didn’t have much money. He would come and pick me up in his tiny, blue Citroën Saxo. It was a simple life.”
Despite not having much money to spoil his then girlfriend, JT would make dinner for Toni and she also said he left her cards on her car window or surprised her with flowers. “It was all very romantic,” she added.
Terry went on to win it all on the pitch with Chelsea and in June 2007 he used his fortune to splash out nearly £1million on a fancy wedding at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire with wife Toni.
Fertility Struggles
While Terry was lifting trophies at Stamford Bridge, at home him and his childhood sweetheart struggled to start a family. Toni has been open about her POS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and in 2018 she told Lorraine Kelly it was a “big shock” because she had no symptoms.
She added: “I just thought it wasn’t happening. We then went down the course of IVI – which is slightly different to IVF – and we fell pregnant. But it was really tough. It took me three years to fall pregnant.”
After finding out they were finally pregnant, Toni said there were lots of happy tears and she revealed how Terry was “grinning like a Cheshire cat” when they learned they were having twins.
The twins ended up being born in May 2006 – one year after their parents ended up getting married.
Twins
Terry’s children Summer Rose and Georgie John both have Instagram accounts with his son having 37,700 followers.
He called his dad his “hero” after he played his last game for Chelsea and Georgie has also shared pictures posing alongside football legends like Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and Virgil van Dijk. His sister Summer meanwhile has 55,700 followers and in April she congratulated her father after he was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
After the twins graduated from school in recent days, a suited and booted Terry wrote online: “Congratulations @georgie26terry @sum26terry on your graduation. We are so proud of you both. The next part of your journeys begin. Dream big.”
Terry’s former Chelsea team-mate, Didier Drogba, also wrote on Georgie’s Instagram to say: “My graduated boy. Congratulations.”
JT also wished the pair a happy 18th birthday last month but he did not reveal what he would treat them to – after going all out last year. This was after he bought both of his kids a Mercedes A Class AMG Line Premium Plus – worth £41,000 – when they turned 17.
Captioning the post, where he shared images of the brand new matted finished motors, he wrote: “Happy 17th Birthday @georgie26terry @sum26terry. We hope you have an amazing day, Mum & I wish you all the happiness and success in the world. We are so Proud of you both. We love you toooooooooooooooo much.”
Terry and Toni’s famous pals, including Holly Willoughby, Sam Faiers and Cesc Fabregas, also wished the siblings a happy birthday.
