Sleuth promised ‘Jay solutions in 3 days’ however provides up in 5 and says ‘get consultants’

A top ex-cop who vowed to get answers for the family of missing British teenager in just “three days” has seemingly given up after five and told them to use the GoFundMe cash to pay for proper experts.

Mark Williams-Thomas flew out to Tenerife last week after claiming he could solve the mystery behind the 19-year-old’s disappearance.

But the search by Guardia Civil was officially called off over the weekend, nearly two weeks after he went missing. The Lancashire lad was reported missing in Tenerife on June 17 after he called his friend Lucy, telling her he was lost in a rural area of the island with only 1% battery left on his phone.

His last known location was half a mile north of Masca village. Despite ongoing efforts by emergency workers, including the Civil Guard, mountain rescue team and fire crews, the challenging terrain of the Rural de Teno park is proving difficult to search.

When he arrived, Williams-Thomas claimed he wanted to speak to two men that Jay had been seen with – before ruling them out as being important.

But he has now claimed that although there are “outstanding actions,” he has given the family a preliminary “breakdown of findings” . . . and then told them to pay for proper experts.

He said, according to the Manchester Evening News: “We still have a number of outstanding actions , but have given the family a preliminary breakdown of findings. In light of the police search ending.

“I have suggested the family should use the GoFundMe money to continue the search using experts in searching. I would appeal again, if you have any ‘direct information’ having spoken to Jay or anyone that was with him over night 16/17th and have not yet been in contact please do so.”

The GoFundMe page has reached £47,560 from around 4,000 donations – with more than £12k rolling in since last week.

Although the official search has ended, Guardia Civil has claimed that it has not ended its overall investigation, and volunteers are still searching the area – albeit without official police support.
