‘I attempted Peroni infused cocktail – we should always ditch pints to higher get pleasure from beer’

Beer is having a massive rebrand at the moment – a bit of a beverage renaissance if you will.

The latest tipple to have a makeover is popular lager Peroni Nastro Azzurro, which is currently dipping it’s toes into the realm of the cocktail.

And I think they’ve discovered the new way to enjoy the best of beer. Gone are the days of necking cans – ice cold or luke warm – in attempts to enjoy a summery drinking session.

Welcome the Peroni infused cocktail – a beer beverage mixed with spirit, poured over ice and served with a fruity garnish. It’s certainly a far cry from your usual pint.

But, here I am at the House Of Peroni activation at BST Hyde Park sipping on a Peroni Nastro Azzuro Spritz (a twist on the Aperol Spritz) as I sit on a mock-up of a Amalfi Coast terrace.

Peroni infused cocktails? Could they be onto something…

Who knew drinking beer in the middle of a British field could be such a lavish affair?

Now, you may think that a beer-based cocktail sounds gross and, you’re right, it does sound it. But, it certainly tastes nothing but delicious – quite the shocker really.

The tipple, priced at £10.50 at the pop-up bar, is described as ‘an uplifting blend of Italian aperitivo, zesty lemonade and crisp Peroni Nastro Azzuro.

Oh, and not to forget the grapefruit garnish – can’t have a beer without a slice of fruit, right?

As someone who tends to drink beer from time to time but avoids it due to the bloated bubbly feeling it gives me, adding a bit of pizzazz to a Peroni is a welcome addition. It was so refreshing yet didn’t have that overpowering beer taste.

Pint of lager, who?

Even better, you don’t need to trek to Hyde Park for one (although they’re offering free masterclasses) as the drink would be easy to make at home for BBQs this summer.

In the grand scheme of things, drinking habits of Gen Z and beyond are changing. It comes after young women have become the demographic to be recently won over by the likes of stout.

We all know by now that a choice of alcoholic beverages shouldn’t be swayed by whether it’s perceived ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’.

But, as beer has long had a reputation for being a bit blokey, Peroni infused cocktails are a great gateway for those wanting to get familiar with the pint life.

Maybe we’ll be seeing pub gardens full of cocktail glasses rather than pints in the future – what do you think lads and lasses?
