Explosive TV rant as Carol Vorderman lets rip at Tory ‘fuel lighting’

Carol Vorderman was merciless as she ripped the Tories apart in an incensed on-air rant as she toasted to “getting the party started”.

The presenter has not hidden her disdain for the government in the past, and showed no let-up as she waxed lyrical about 14 years of scandal and chaos, dubbing them “utterly banal and ridiculous”. Toasting Channel 4 panel members with her tea mug, Carol declared it was time to start the party ahead of what is deemed to be a disastrous night for the Tories.

Carol said: “14 years of corruption and lies and gaslighting, you’ve got two ex-disgraced Tory chancellors in the studio. You’ve got Nadine Dorries – a woman who barely turned up in her last year as an MP. And everybody out there is thinking no more of this, no more of the lies, the deceit, of the corruption, or the VIP PPE lane scandal, of the betting scandal.

“Who could ever have ever thought that a government would ever be as utterly utterly banal and as ridiculous as this one? So let’s get the party started because they have gone.” Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall raised his mug, saying, “I’ll drink to that,” as the two panel members toasted.

Her rant came as Nadine Dorries clashed heads in the studio with the panel, ferociously defending Boris Johnson and remaining tight-lipped when asked the former PM’s thoughts on the exit poll. The final projection heralded obliteration for the Tories, putting them on 131 seats which, if true, would be the party’s worst result in over a century.

Nadine, the former Culture Minister who last year announced she would be standing down, argued with Alistair Campbell earlier in the show after she was confronted with Boris’ track record of provable lies in office. Her combative responses even saw veteran presenter Emily Maitlis at one point appear to roll her eyes.

Carol Vorderman shared a TikTok with her social media followers earlier in the evening ahead of her Channel 4 appearance, as she appeared excitable backstage throwing papers around to the sound of Michael Scott’s famous “everybody stay calm” scene in the US The Office.
