Jay Slater search analysed by supercomputer because it provides ‘almost certainly state of affairs’
Jay Slater’s mum, Debbie has painfully admitted that the mystery surrounding the 19-year-old’s disappearance may never surface.
But that hasn’t stopped TikTok sleuths and armchair detectives wading in and peddling their theories after the official search for the missing teenager was stood down.
Since the apprentice bricklayer’s phone last pinged on June 17, news has emerged of a stolen £12,000 Rolex, two mystery men and convicted drug dealer who said Jay was “alive” when he left an Airbnb he stayed at in Tenerife.

But with so much interest and hype surrounding the case and not much information coming from the Spanish Police, we turned to AI to see if it could help shed any light.

The supercomputer listed the key events and circumstances noting that Jay from Lancashire had attended the NRG music festival before heading to a nightclub in Playa de Las Americas.
It mentioned Jay met two people and stayed with them in an apartment in the remote Masca valley. The next morning, he missed the bus and decided to make the 11-hour journey back on foot, telling friend Lucy Law he was lost, thirsty and his phone was about to die. He also said he’d cut his leg.
His last known location was in the Rural de Teno Park where a huge search operation was launched. But after 14 days it was called off as family members continue to scour the terrain themselves.
As today marks 19 days since the youngster vanished, we wanted to see if artificial intelligence had any suggestions as to his fate.

The AI programme said: “Based on the available information, several factors contribute to the mystery surrounding Jay Slater’s disappearance in Tenerife.”
Listing theories and speculations, it said: “Given the difficult terrain and Jay’s report of being injured and disoriented, it is plausible that he may have succumbed to the environment. The combination of injury, dehydration, and possibly losing his way in a harsh landscape could have led to an accidental death.”
About whether there’s any criminality involved, it added: “Although less evidence supports this, Jay’s mother expressed fear that he might have been taken against his will. However, there is no concrete evidence to support abduction or foul play.”

Possible leads are mentioned including an image from a webcam in the town of Santiago del Tiede and a neighbour’s account of seeing Jay walking along a mountain path. However, none of the leads have led to a breakthrough, the AI notes.
It concludes: “The most likely scenario, given the current evidence, is that Jay Slater became disoriented and was unable to navigate the challenging terrain back to safety, potentially resulting in an accidental fatality.
“The exact circumstances remain unclear due to the lack of concrete evidence or sightings beyond the initial reports. The discontinuation of the official search further complicates the resolution of this tragic case.”
