One idea in Slater case actually worries buddies and so they need cops to research
Police in Spain are being told it look into an alleged theft of a £12,000 Rolex alleged to have involved the missing Jay Slater.
The teenager mysteriously vanished on the island on June 17 after he told a friend that he was setting off on foot from an Airbnb to southern Tenerife, a journey which would have taken 11 hours. During that time his phone died.
Police called off a huge search for the missing 19-year-old last Sunday (June 30), while an investigation into the case remains open. Now, former British police detective Mark Williams-Thomas has questioned why the teenager didn’t go back to his accommodation to get some water or charge his phone.

Williams-Thomas said Jay had “posted a Snapchat saying that he’d taken a £12,000 Rolex from a person”.
He added: “We’ve received information that would suggest that Jay left the rental property feeling scared and he would not return to the rental, even though that would have been the most sensible course of action.”
The detective went on to say police could not say for certain this was because of a robbery. However he added: “Friends of Jay said he would not make this up and the watch was subject of later conversation between the friends.”
Wlliams-Thomas also spent time trying to piece together Jay’s last known movements, saying: “The evidence is that Jay walked off on the rental, walked for about 30 minutes, and then sent his location at 8.49am and 8.50am. And we know that he was at that stage off the road on a track with loose stones.”
A GoFundMe page which has now raised over £50,000 remains open with dontaions being used to help volunteers.
Jay’s mum thanked all those that had donated: “Hi again everyone. Your generosity has been vast, and we are so grateful for all of your support and kindness during this unimaginable time for our family.
