Prison inmate freed early was concerned in police chase days later
A prison inmate who was freed three months early was involved in a 70mph police chase just days later.
Daylan Corrigan, 27, served just two months of a 10 month sentence but within a short time was arrested again for dangerous driving – the same offence for which he was jailed in March.
He drove his VW Golf at speeds of up to 70mph in a residential area of Torquay on May 31.

The 27-year-old was found to be over the drink drive limit after he crawled from the wreckage.
He was also disqualified from driving and having no insurance at the time of the incident.
In 2022 he was jailed after he took a double decker bus for a joyride when he was high on drugs.
Corrigan admitted dangerous driving, drink driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance and was jailed for 18 months and banned for three years after his release by Judge James Adkin at Exeter Crown Court.
The judge told Corrigan: ‘You had only just been released from a sentence for dangerous driving and the aggravating features are that you caused an accident and committed other traffic offences.’
The judge ordered that the car be forfeited to police.

Mr Lewis Aldous, prosecuting, said police spotted Corrigan’s car going too fast round a roundabout and drew alongside when he pulled up.
He reversed away and sped off, driving at more than twice the 30mph limit and going on the wrong side of the road on blind corners.
He crashed and was found to have a blood alcohol reading of 46microgrammes, above the legal limit of 35.
Mr Paul Dentith, defending, said the pursuit had happened at 10pm when the roads were quiet, nobody had been hurt, and the principle damage was to Corrigan’s own car.
