Jay Slater’s pal slams conspiracy theorists in ‘must know the details’ rant

Jay Slater’s mate has blasted armchair detectives for spreading wild conspiracy theories about the teen’s disappearance, insisting they “need to know the facts” first.

Brad Hargreaves, who was holidaying in Tenerife with 19 year old Jay when he vanished three weeks ago, returned to the UK on Sunday after an intense search effort.

The pair had been out partying on June 16, and Jay ended up going back with two blokes they met to an AirBnb in Masca village, a 40-minute drive away. The alarm was raised the next day when Jay phoned another mate, Lucy Law, saying he was trying to trek back through the treacherous mountain park.

Despite a massive search with helicopters, sniffer dogs, and even ace Brit detective Mark Williams-Thomas joining in, there’s been no sign of Jay. His phone last signalled in Rural de Teno park, but the Civil Guard called off the ground search last Sunday, and Mr Williams-Thomas has since dropped some bombshell findings.

With Jay’s family desperate for answers and official searches winding down, online sleuths have been cooking up their own theories. Now Brad, also 19, has slammed these keyboard warriors after some accused him of playing a part in his pal’s mysterious disappearance, reports the Mirror.

“‘Thinkin’ I’m involved in it all is beyond me,” he stated. “We’ve been pals for years, took our first holiday together and sadly this has happened. We ain’t drug mules or whatever…. people need to get their facts straight before spouting rubbish on the internet..”

There have also been rumours about potential links between the disappearance and criminal goings-on in Tenerife. One of the two blokes Jay was hanging out with at the AirBnb, Ayub Qassim, turns out to be a convicted drug dealer.

He’s denied having anything to do with Jay’s disappearance, and the Civil Guard have ruled both men out of the investigation. It’s also come to light that Jay supposedly told his mates on Snapchat he’d nicked a Rolex on the Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Jay’s dad Warren Slater has been spotted continuing the search for his lad in the rural park, over a week after the Spanish authorities packed up. Mr Slater and Jay’s brother Zak, joined a small group who spent the day trekking through the neighbouring valleys to where the 19 year old was last seen.

Warren said: “I’ve covered 80% of that valley, so we went further along. We’ve driven and we’ve walked down the path at the next village, up the mountain there’s a viewpoint that looks down, you can either follow the road, but we didn’t, we parked up and walked down.”

Warren questioned why Jay would stray away from their trail, expressing his disbelief at a jump-off point. He told us: “It doesn’t make sense, he’s either hid himself, but why would he hide himself? Or he’s just ….? “.
