Man arrested after child discovered lifeless at house on central London road

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody after a baby was found dead at a terraced home on a street in central London.

The horrific discovery was made when officers were called to a property on Taviton Street in Camden, where homes cost up to £3 million, over a ‘concern for welfare’ on Monday afternoon.

A Met Police spokesperson said police were alerted to the incident in the affluent area of the capital shortly after 2pm.

Staff from the London Ambulance Service also attended the scene and inquiries into the circumstances of the baby’s death continue.

Images from the scene seem to show a forensic tent erected outside one of the houses on the street, the Independent reports.

Taviton Street has been home to the University College London’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies since 2005.

Famous British World War Two resistance agent Noor Inayat Khan also lived on the expensive street. Ms Khan spied on Nazi figures under the codename Madeleine and was the first female wireless operator to be sent to help with the French resistance.
