Sneaky approach to watch England in Euros remaining should you’re caught at work this weekend

It might actually be coming home.

After scooping a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday night, England have elbowed their way into the UEFA Euro 2024 final for a consecutive time.

Now set to lock horns with Spain on Sunday (July 14), the Three Lions have the chance of bringing home the trophy. If they can do it, it would mark the first time the England men’s team have ever won the Euros, following the historic victory made by the Lionesses in 2022.

It will also mark the first major trophy the team has lifted since their 1966 World Cup win, and millions of Brits will tune in to see if Gareth Southgate’s squad can pull it off. But what about those unfortunate lot who are stuck with weekend shifts?

Plenty work round the clock in establishments such as shops or public transportation and might miss the monumental game, but there’s a sneaky trick you can use if you find yourself in that unlucky position this Sunday.

Walkers found the perfect workaround for those of us unfortunate enough to be working this weekend – so long as you remember to bring a packet of crisps to work.

In a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post, the brand proposed stealthily stashing your phone inside an empty crisp packet after cueing up the game on it. That way, you get to savour every second without your employer catching wind.

Accompanied by an illustrative photo of this cunning tactic, Walkers cheekily captioned their Instagram post: “The just in case you’re ‘working’ late pack hack.”

Driving the point home in the caption, they penned: “Working late? You’re welcome.”

Meanwhile, Tesco Express employees won’t need to worry about missing the game on Sunday. The supermarket confirmed it will be closing shops early to ensure staff can get home in time for the match.

Over 1,800 Tesco Express stores will close at 7.30pm instead of the usual 10pm or 11pm. Employees at larger Tesco outlets won’t have to worry about missing the game either, as their stores will be closed during the Euros final due to Sunday trading hours.
