Defiant Jay Slater TV cop stands by ‘100% appropriate’ idea as physique discovered

The top ex-cop who had been trying to find Jay Slater has claimed he “stands by” a theory he made early on into the search.

Slater went missing on June 17 after travelling from a rave to the remote Airbnb in the mountains of Tenerife with two men. Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire had posted a Snapchat video of himself at the Casa Abuela Tina, near the village of Masca, shortly before making his last phone call to pal Lucy Mae Law before he disappeared.

The search for the him was officially called off two weeks later and his last known location was half a mile north of Masca village, which is where Guardia Civil confirmed a body was found earlier today.

One week into the search, ex-top police detective Mark Williams-Thomas joined in, claiming he could get the family answers in just “three days”.

He didn’t, but continued to perform a thorough search. And just minutes after the discovery was confirmed, he hit back at someone on social media asking if he still stands by a statement he made earlier.

When he first started his investigation, he said: “We know now that Jay took certain actions while at the rental because he was clearly worried about his own safety. This was shortly before he decided to leave.”

And today, when asked if he stands by it, he said: “I take it you did not listen carefully to everything I have said . Yeah this statement is 100% correct with the evidence I have/which you don’t have.”

In the Guardia Civil statement released earlier today, it was confirmed that the “lifeless body of a young man” was found in the Masca area, and that it appeared as if the person had “suffered an accident”.

They stated: “Given the complexity of the case, the discovery has been possible thanks to the incessant and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard during these 29 days, in which the natural space was preserved so that it would not be filled with curious onlookers.

“All indications indicate that it could be the young British man who has been missing since June 17 in the absence of full identification. The first investigations reveal that he could have suffered an accident fall in the inaccessible area where he was found.”
