Body present in Tenerife is confirmed as Jay Slater

A body found in the hunt for Jay Slater has been confirmed as the missing teenager, a court spokesperson said.

The 19-year-old, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, vanished following a night out on Tenerife on June 17, prompting a huge search operation involving police, volunteers and family members which spanned almost a month.

On Monday morning, the Spanish Civil Guard tragically discovered a body with the apprentice bricklayer’s possessions and clothing, near to where his phone last pinged.

Tenerife officials also revealed that documentation belonging to Jay was found with the body and that everything is pointing to an accidental fall.

And now, fingerprints examined in a post-mortem have confirmed that it is Jay’s body.
