Mr Clooney and his wife Amal visited Edinburgh in 2019 to be presented with prestigious Postcode Hero awards in recognition of their work to safeguard human rights.

He previously visited Social Bite in Edinburgh in 2015, which propelled the charity to worldwide fame.

The couple founded the The Clooney Foundation for Justice, a human rights charity, in 2016.

On Tuesday, Mr Clooney was seen arriving in Edinburgh City Centre, spending time with fans who gathered in the street to greet him.

Dressed in a sharp black suit, the Ocean’s Eleven actor paused to chat with well-wishers ahead of his engagements.

His visit comes a week after he issued a damning call for Joe Biden to quit the US presidential race.

The lifelong Democratic Party supporter wrote in the New York Times: ‘We are not going to win in November with this president.’
