Sick thug who punched child quite a few occasions in is jailed for 14 years

A sick thug who punched a baby numeorus times and left them with brain damage has been jailed for 14 years.

Jordan Cattell, 25 from Handsworth in the West Midlands, hit the child as he lay in his cot in a home in Walsall.

West Midlands Police said Cattell caused multiple skull fractures and haemorrhaging.

The ten-month-old survived his injuries but will need full-time care for the rest of life due to his disabilities, the force said.

Cattell had claimed the baby had fallen over, creating a story in an attempt to cover up his heinous crimes.

But a jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court did not believe him and he was found guilty of launching the horrific 2018 attack.

Speaking after the case, Det Con Lucy Simpson, from West Midland Police, said: ‘This was an upsetting case, particularly as it has such a long-lasting effect on the victim, at the time a small, innocent baby. The sustained injuries have impacted the victim’s life, leading to lifelong disabilities.

‘It has taken years of hard work to bring this case to court and I’m glad Cattell has been put behind bars for a significant period of time.’
