Jay Slater sleuth to show what occurred to lacking teen after ‘legal’ trace
The TV detective brought in to help find Jay Slater will address the speculation around the case in a major update.
Mark Williams-Thomas, a former detective who previously worked the Madeleine McCann case, joined Jay’s family in Tenerife to help them search for the missing teen who disappeared without a trace on the Spanish island on Monday, June 17.
Despite announcing they had called off the ground search for Jay after 12 days of combing remote mountainside, Spanish authorities retrieved the apprentice bricklayer’s body from a deep “inaccessible” ravine on Monday, July 15.

The lad from Lancashire’s disappearance captured the world’s attention, in part for the mystery that enshrouded the search every turn.
While the case has come to a tragic end, many questions remain, such as why the body was missed in the initial stages and why the police won’t reveal the exact location where they found Jay’s body to his family.
In an X post, Williams-Thomas announced he would “address” the speculation that continues to plague the case.
He wrote: “Being asked to do a video to address some of the speculation that continues to circle around the very sad case of Jay Slater.
“I will do a video in due course when the time is right.
“But at this stage we are just making sure all the actions of the investigation are fully completed as far as we can, before doing so.”
Previously the investigator alluded there was a “criminal element” to the case.
In an earlier update, the former Met cop revealed a new timeline of jay’s movements, and claimed his disappearance was linked to an “established criminal network”.
He said: “As part of this investigation we have sought to speak with all of the people Jay had contact with whilst in Tenerife. The result of this digging has opened up an established criminal network with links to drugs, violent crime and theft.”
The detective also previously said there is no evidence to suggests foul play.
