King’s Guard horse bites vacationer who bought too shut as lady faints in horror

An unlucky tourist managed to get the notoriously steely King’s Guard to speak – but paid a heavy price.

Irony was the order of the day yesterday (Sunday July 21), as the young woman plonked herself in front of the warning sign to pose for a photo with the soldier and his horse outside the Household Cavalry Museum in central London.

Most photos go without incident, but yesterday proved why the sign reads ‘BEWARE: Horses may kick or bite’ as the large animal immediately lunged for the woman’s right arm.

A YouTube clip showed the horse clamp down and yank the woman towards it with some force. The tourist shrieked in pain before appearing to faint, prompting the soldier to break his silence.

“Can you go and get the police officer?” he asks.

The woman is then seen laying against the railings with people all around her, including a police officer.

In January, another tourist was left in shock after she stood a little to close to one of the King’s horses and it decided to have a munch on her coat.

Stood posed for a photo next to the Household Cavalryman and his mount, the woman’s black coat is soon yanked to one side by the inquisitive animal.

The woman first starts to pat the horse on the nose as he goes in for a sniff but is quickly left struggling to get away as the horse hangs on to the coat’s arm.

After a few tugs the woman manages to wriggle free with most of her black puffer jacket intact and she rejoined her group.

The King’s Guards are posted for public duties outside important royal sites. In addition to their ceremonial role, they do have a practical role as a part of the British Army’s Household Division.
